DOC-QUÉBEC PRÉSENTE UN PANEL AU SUJET DE LA DISTRIBUTION

Ø Par quelles nouvelles méthodes innovatrices la communauté indépendante peut-elle entreprendre le contrôle de la distribution de leurs propres films?
Ø Comment est-ce que le multi-platforme affecte l'industrie de la distribution des films?
Ø Quel est l'impact de la domination croissante du marché de la télédiffusion sur la distribution des documentaires uniques?
Ø Comment une companie de production peut-elle devenir son propre distributeur?
Quatre individus apportent leurs expériences variées pour animer la discussion:
PASCAL MAEDER - producteur et fondateur de Productions Atopia, il gère actuellement la production, distribution et exportation de cette nouvelle compagnie pleine d'avenir. Atopia distribue le film On the Trail of Igor Rizzi de Noel Mitrani, lequel fut nommé Meilleur Premier Film Canadien au Festival International du Film de Toronto 2006 et qui sera projeté à la prochaine édition du Festival du Nouveau Cinéma de Montréal.
PASCALE FERLAND - documentariste indépendante, suite à la fermeture de Cinéma Libre, elle fut impliquée dans la création du comité de crise de la distribution indépendante. Elle est présentement membre du comité consultatif pour le Conseil des Arts de Montréal en tant que représentante pour le cinéma indépendant.
EZRA WINTON - fondateur et programmateur de Cinéma Politica, pour lequel il existe maintenant une dizaine de branches au Canada. Il fait présentement de la recherche sur CinemaNet, le nouveau système européen de distribution digitale pour les films documentaires de l'UE, pour évaluer son application dans un contexte canadien.
ROBBIE HART (modérateur) - président et co-fondateur de Adobe Productions, établi en 1986, il produit et distribue leurs films documentaires aux sujets humanitaires de partout dans le monde et qui ont gagnés plusieurs prix internationalement.

Ø What are some of the new and innovative ways the independent community can take control of distributing their own films?
Ø How is multi-platforming affecting the film distribution industry?
Ø How is the increasing dominance of the television marketplace affecting the distribution of one-off documentaries?
Ø How can a production company effectively become its own distributor?
Four individuals bring their own wide range of experience to lead the discussion:
PASCAL MAEDER - producer and founder of Atopia Productions, currently oversees the productionm, distribution and export branches of this up and coming new company. Atopia is the distributor for Noel Mitrani's On the Trail of Igor Rizzi, named Best First Canadian Film at the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival and screening at the forthcoming Festival du Nouveau Cinéma.
PASCALE FERLAND - independent documentary filmmaker, following the demise of Cinéma Libre was involved in the creation of the crisis committee for independent distribution and is presently a member of the consultation committee of the Montreal Arts Council representing independent filmmaking.
EZRA WINTON - founder and programmer of Cinéma Politica, which now has over ten locals across Canada, is currently researching CinemaNet, the new European digital distribution system for EU docs, to assess its potential for Canadian application.
ROBBIE HART (Moderator) - president and co-founder of Adobe Productions, established in 1986, produces and distributes their award-winning international documentaries focusing on human stories from around the world.
