FOR IMMEDIATE DISTRIBUTION

DOC Quebec, Cinema Politica, Camp Nominingue and EyeSteelFilm cordially invites you to attend the 1st ever DOCUMENTARY SUMMER CAMP!

Tired of sitting alone in a tiny cramped office, staring at your computer screen for hours on end? Screw that, why don't you take it easy for a while. What could be better than an informal gathering that mixes documentaries and the great outdoors?

Cinema Politica has graciously offered to program a double-bill (possibly triple) Special Screening of their season's upcoming best documentaries, which we would screen on Friday evening. Camp Nominingue - a summer camp for boys that was founded in 1925 - has offered to host us and let us use their theatre. So on Saturday, you would have all day to hang out in the woods, go for hikes, paddle a canoe, sit on the beach, play a softball game, and enjoy nature. There will be no pressure to use your brain whatsoever, but if the mood strikes you and you feel like discussing something film related, more power to you!

When: Friday, August 24th to Saturday, August 25th
Where: Camp Nominingue (2 hours north of Montreal)
What: An evening of documentary films and a fun day of summer camp activities (sitting on the beach, swimming in a lake, playing games etc)
Why: Because we all work too hard and we need some down time
How: For a night in a tent, 3 meals and access to all of Camp Nominingue's facilities the cost would be approximately $110 (depending on the size tent you rent)

The Schedule for the weekend would unfold something like this:

Arrive at Camp Nominingue on Friday the 24th sometime between 2pm and 5 pm.
Have diner in the Dinning Hall at 6pm.
Screen the films in the theatre from 7pm to 10 or 11 pm
Have a camp fire and hang out
Saturday Morning, breakfast is served at 9am
After breakfast, for those who are interested, we could play a game - perhaps softball, or beach volleyball (or you can do whatever outdoor activity you like)
Lunch would be at 12:30
Then around 3-4 o'clock we would head back to Montreal (unless you wanted to stay an extra night, which is a possibility.

At the end of every summer Camp Nominingue holds an 8 day "Holiday Week" - so we won't be alone up there and we will have to be respectful of the other guests. As you can expect from a summer camp, the accommodations are rustic. Everyone sleeps in "Prospector Tents", which are big Canvas Tents with a wooden platforms. You sleep on military style cots and you have to bring your own sleeping bag or sheets. Tents sleep anywhere from 1 to 6 people, depending on how we organize people. (1 person in a tent alone is more expensive then if you share with others) You can share a tent with you significant other, you can bring your kids and share a tent with them, or we can organize ourselves to share with friends. Just remember, bring a flashlight because it gets really dark at night (you can actually see stars...wow)
