Once a Nazi

(Montreal, Quebec) --- Filmmakers Frederic Bohbot and Evan Beloff are
proud to invite you to the premier of their latest collaboration, the
documentary thriller Once a Nazi, on Tuesday September 19th at the Concordia Hall Building, 1455 de
Maisonneuve Blvd., West { Room H-110 } Admission is $5 at the door.
[ 7:30pm ]

The premier comes following the recent disclosure by Nobel Prize
winning author Guenther Grass regarding his Waffen SS membership.

This film, unlike Grass' nominal two month stint in the SS - explores
the tragic story of former Concordia professor Adalbert Lallier, a
man haunted by his three years as a member of the most infamous group
of mass murderers of the twentieth century. Centered around Lallier's
eye witness account of the murder of seven concentration camp
prisoners, Once a Nazi
juxtaposes the ex-soldier's crisis of conscience with his dramatic
testimony fifty-five years later in the last Nazi war crimes
tribunal. Before Lallier, never had a Waffen SS man turned on his
superior in a civil court.

How does he judge himself? How should we judge him? His current
dilemma speaks to the very heart of human forgiveness; a timeless
tale of morality using the utter despondency of war as a starting point.

The premier will be followed by a question and answer session with
the principle characters Adalbert Lallier, Rabbi Reuben Poupko, and
Nazi hunter Steven Rambam.

Once a Nazi
produced and directed by Frederic Bohbot and Evan Beloff. This is
Bohbot's first film; he previously worked extensively with renowned
filmmaker Magnus Isacsson. Beloff, formerly of Diversus productions
has written, directed and produced several films, including, Too
Colourful for the League (1999), Schmelvis, Searching for the King's
Jewish Roots (2000), Irving Layton, A Red Carpet for the Sun (2001),
Women Warriors (TV series/website) (2002-04), Being Osama (2004),
Winter Wonderland: The Making of the Ice Hotel (2005) and the Legend
of Memphre (2005).
