Trinity Square Video Themed Commission Program
FRATERNITE
Call for Submissions
Deadline for proposals: May 30, 2006 at 5pm

We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools.
- Martin Luther King Jr. (1929 - 1968)

Calling all Sisters and Brothers! TSV announces the continuation of our
commissioning trilogy Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite, based on the French
revolutionary slogan. For the final installment of the trilogy, Trinity
Square Video in Toronto is teaming up with our brother organization,
Videographe in Montreal. Three artists in each city will be selected to
make videos inspired by the concept of fraternity. The six videos will
be premiered at Montreal's International experimental film and video
festival Festival du Nouveau Cinema in October 2006 followed by a
screening in Toronto.

Together, TSV and Videographe are asking artists to define brotherhood
or sisterhood: Is blood thicker than water? Does the old-boy network
still hold sway? Who are your allies and what is the cause that unites
you together? What does it mean to belong to a community? What are the
effects of being excluded from it? Is there such thing as a fellowship
of artists, especially across cultural and language divides?

Trinity Square Video calls for proposals for 5-7 minute videos about
fraternity. TSV encourages emerging to established artists to submit
proposals.

Selected artists receive:
* $550 in production equipment rentals
* 40 hours in the Final Cut Pro Editing Suite and a FCP workshop
* TSV membership or renewal
* a $300 artist fee
* a screening at the Festival du Nouvea Cinema in Montreal and a
screening in Toronto
