Posted June 19th, 2009: MFG member Geoffrey Uloth writes: "We are just finishing up a short film called Among Friends and are now having to replace our temp score with real music. There are THREE PIECES needed and they are in different styles: First: classic old-school melancholy hollywood (strings, harp, tenor singer perhaps- go to this LINK to hear our temp music. Second: up-tempo jazz a la Django Reinhart's "Topsy," and, Third: something like Screaming Jay Hawkin's "I Put a Spell on You." We could do each piece separately with three different musicians, or have one very talented musician do them all. I am open to different suggestions musically, so I'm not completely married to what we have. I would also like to hear "public domain" music suggestions that might fit the bill. A bit of information about the film: Among Friends is about a dinner party gone strange, and so far the test screenings have been very positive. Unconventional, it often provokes debate, which has gotten intense at times, but in a good way... We have applied and are currently waiting on the Toronto International Film Festival to announce the accepted films for this year. We have received support from the NFB for our sound mix, which happens the first week of August, and though we have applied to CALQ for post-production money, we won't hear back before the middle of July and that makes the schedule a bit tight. We need to start work on the music soon. If we get CALQ, there will be a little more money for the music, but whoever takes the job needs to be willing to do the work for less if we don't. Contact Geoffrey at: uloth@evergonarts.com Film's trailer HERE."

Since Sacha’s birth it’s been tough working from home and it’s gotten to the point where I’ve got to find an ‘office’ space outside the apartment if I’m going to get anything done and keep my family sane. Maybe you’ve got a small cubicle at the back of your office that no one’s using? Maybe you need someone to baby-sit your apartment and water your plants while you’re out of town? I’m the guy for you! All I need is a little clean table space, some electricity, and a toilet… And all I’m going to be doing is writing or editing on my laptop. I’m a very quiet guy, not at all flatulent. Ever. Thanks so much, David. goodvibes88@hotmail.com P.S. my new film Infant plays at the Rendez-vous de cinéma québécois: Thursday, February 19th at 21h45 at the Salle Claude Jutra in the Cinemathèque Québécoise."

Posted Febrary 2nd, 2009: MFG member Josh Usheroff of Video Party writes: "Call for submissions: Video Party is looking for new content for our next round of screenings... Theme: Consumerism. Seeking short films and videos about western materialism, developing economies and the manufacturing sector, (un)sustainable development, the media that creates the consumer, or your favorite shoes. Video Party is ideologically neutral, so our goal is to showcase films that encourage critical thinking about our current global economy as much as films that will make our audiences drool over images of excessive bling. Theme: Spirituality. We’re looking for poetic films about connecting with your spiritual side, critical docs about organized religion, intimate portraits of your Priest, Rabbi or Imam and hidden camera exposés from your last scientology meeting. God may have died, but we’re still here, so what remains? Deadlime March 1st, 2009. If you have a film or video that does not relate to the current themes, you can still submit your work for a future event. Details and mailing address online at: http://www.videoparty.info/submissions.html"
