  • Posted August 26th, 2008: The Montreal World Film Festival's programming includes the World Premiere of Vancouver-based director Eileen Yaghoobian's feature documentary Died Young Stayed Pretty, presented in the Documentaries of the World category. Died Young Stayed Pretty is the first feature documentary to take a candid look at the renaissance of North America's underground indie-rock poster movement. In 2001 this little known industry experienced a creative comeback spurred on by the launch of Gigposters.com, a web portal that aims to catalogue rock posters across the globe. Picking up where punk left off, Died Young Stayed Pretty reveals a new breed of counter-culturists; artists that set out to destroy the mainstream through their controversial and intensely visceral design work. FFM screening dates: Fri. Aug. 29, 7pm, ONF Cinema; Sat. Aug. 30th, 1pm, ONF Cinema; Sun. Aug. 31st, 5pm, ONF Cinema. More info.

Maybe you know someone's parents that have a house trapped in the 70s in TMR or West Island - a rumpus room that escaped modernity, a living room caught in 70s amber. There may be a small honourarium available of a location fee (this is a lo/no budget production with the support of ACTRA, with many great people volunteering their talent). • Posted July 14th, 2008: 60 filmmakers. 60 second films. Introducing Montreal's inaugural 60 Minute Film Festival. A nonprofit community film festival like no other. No jury, no prizes, no submission fees - nothing except the joy of filmmaking and film watching. On July 24, 60 filmmakers will have the chance to register for M60 on a first-come, first-served basis. They will then have one month to make a 60 second film, in any genre, no matter their background or experience. On September 23 and 24, these sixty films will screen as a rapid-fire, one-hour festival. M60 is a celebration of amateur and professional filmmaking alike, and of the dazzling question: What can you say in just one minute? Registration will open at a launch party on Thursday, July 24, at La Sala Rossa. A bevy of local artists, actors and established filmmakers have already committed to participating in the festival, with dozens more first-, second- and third-time filmmakers hoped to enter the fray. Each film could be 60 seconds of disaster - or 60 seconds of masterpiece. More details at: http://www.m60.ca

I am in the process of shooting a small introduction in order to present in public my two previous short films. Both my previous films are stories of 'dark humor'. Major Canadian institutions have approved my previous works. The reason for this posting is that I am thinking to organize a sort of 'event' for the upcoming film shoot. The story-intro that I came up with gives many possibilities of development/presentation. I have a place for the shoot. The owner of the place wants to advertise his place. I want to advertise my products. If a company wants to join me to use this 'event-shoot' for promotional benefits that will be something great. The company who would help me may have a promotional clip for itself as a final result. We might create something for mutual benefit. And we might create something for the benefit of Quebec-Cinema. Hoping to hear from you. lukasconstantine@yahoo.ca"
